It is almost the end of the year 2020 while some of us are waiting for the same to be ending others do not know what the new year shall bring and thus are pensive about the same. We are still pretty far from seeing the end of the pandemic 2020 that had wrecked 2020 for us. 2020 has been pretty dystopian so personally, I am not having any high hopes from the future that is 2021. It is either herd immunity or a vaccine whichever comes first to rescue the world which is most welcome. It has already been forecasted by Bill Gates that the pandemic will be getting worse before it is able to be getting better.

As of now, the toughest climate changes have been the buildings that have been built and not the cars which were driven. It was actually him who had predicted that regions of the world will experience a surge in Covid cases before it is anything close to being wiped out. This is the same model that predicted that deaths will increase in the fall in both America and Europe. This was also unfortunately proved to be correct. This leads us to the good news which is that better quality of therapeutics which is mainly the monoclonal antibodies that will be readily available by the closure of the year 2020 and by the beginning of the year 2021. The monoclonal antibodies have been created by that of the cloning made from the white blood cells which may be targeted at certain antigens. The now ex-president Donald Trump had received his treatment as a part of the same cocktail which had been used to be defeating his Covid infection. Eli Lilly had very recently paused the trial for monoclonal antibody however Gates had hoped that that will be restarting very soon, maybe in the year 2021 itself. 

It is almost good news that vaccines were on the way and about 170 institutions are testing the same. It is also indicated that 2-3 of that of the first 6 of them are in their last phases of being tried. They may or may not be approved which will be starting people on the path towards the cutting of transmission. Since the vaccines would be available gates has also predicted that schools might open in 2021 and education might be back on track since Zoom classes are already proving to be an overrated concept. By the time it is the latter half of 2021, the United States could be in a better shape than they are right now and sadly there are no future predictions for other countries or continents so-called. Gates has already said that he is hoping that even with appropriate vaccines being there the pandemic cannot be wiped out before the rates of contamination go down on a worldwide level. The world will not be normal so-called till the time the virus is completely defeated and this can only be done after global cooperation.

There are many good things that have however come from that of the pandemic, which is that governments from all over the world and America, in particular, have been doing a great job in providing relief aids for that of the pandemic. It is perhaps more important than the racing to stop the Covid infection is accelerating the development of the vaccines of the RNA. The vaccines which are traditional work by the infection of that of the recipient having dead or inert pathogens so that they are able to be jump-starting an immune response. The vaccines of RNA are not pathogens but just the messenger RNA that is producing a response which is similar to that of the immune system. This happens since they do not require an entire pathogen and hence are safe for administering, easily produced and also probably more versatile. This is a really promising approach booth for the sake of time-lapse control while creating a new vaccine and so that they can be having a generalised factory which can be standing by and it does not matter what kind of disease one may suffer. A new platform is expected to be in the offing and we will also see that by 2021  so that people are able to be trying to do a vaccine for that of HIV, TB and malaria.

Most of the people in the world are better off thinking that fighting changes in the climate so that we can have greener energies like that of wind or solar power, self-driven electric cars is the best thing to do but although stalwarts support the decision people have already realised that they are facing greater challenges such as those related to the manufacturing of steel and cement. There is no way to be making cement that can control emissions which are environmentally harmful. 2021 will hopefully raise this concern in the eyes of the R&D teams so that they can come up with better solutions for the same. This means that, although there are changes in the behaviour of humans to be reducing carbon emissions which are generating mass awareness technology can definitely speed up the process. Let us hope that 2021 will show the way towards new innovation since there is no way without the same. One among the world’s richest people which is Gates is already funding Heliogen which is a start-up that is exploring different ways fir the using of solar power for applications of higher temperatures for cement and steel manufacture.

2021 is hopefully ushering in things getting better and many famous personalities including Gates is really optimistic about the same. It is also going to be a year of treating minorities and women better while battling deaths due to cancer, understanding of Alzheimer’s and diabetes. There are obviously setbacks but here is hoping that setbacks do not mark the end of our endeavours with the pandemic being a huge example of the same and we must believe that trying can help us overcome anything as humans.
